Hybrids are great bikes for the biker who wants a bicycle for different types of terrains and different levels of riding. These bikes come with all different types of brakes from linear-pull brakes to disc brakes. I believe the type of brake you choose is based on your personal preference and the type of riding you are doing.
About Disc Brakes
This type of brake creates friction when two plates push up against a disc that is attached to the wheel. The friction created by this pressure stops the bike. Disc brakes are generally found on Mountain bikes, however since a Hybrid is a cross between mountain bikes and city bikes these brakes are becoming more popular on hybrid bikes, as well. Disc brakes are amazing for off-roading and rugged terrains. They don’t clog with mud or snowy conditions. Also, these brakes are strong and can withstand a lot of force. However, in city riding or commuting they don’t make a whole lot of difference than other brakes.
Review of Best Hybrid Bikes with Disc Brakes
The choices of bikes are endless these days. Bicycles are sold online, in catalogs, in chain stores and even at bike specialty stores. So when it comes to finding a great hybrid with disc brakes it’s a good idea to look at manufacturer and customer reviews, as well as, talking to professionals. I found three great hybrids that came highly recommended.
Schwinn GTX 2.0 700c, Men’s Dual 18 Sport Bike
The Schwinn GTX 2.0 comes in a stylish red finish that anyone is sure to love. This bike is quite versatile with it’s standard 700c hybrid wheels, front and rear disc brakes, and alloy rims. The tires and frame are lightweight and durable allowing you to ride anywhere you, please. This hybrid by Schwinn is a great bicycle on or off the road. The tires and brakes make this ideal for rugged terrains yet smooth enough to use as a commuter bike to and from work!

The bike comes with 700c alloy wheels which are light and versatile. The lightweight wheels, shock and disc brakes makes this a great leisurely ride. Not to mention the beach cruiser pedals that gives this bike just a bit more luxury! Mongoose createsmany great sport bikes and off-road bikes. Final Thoughts
When you think about buying a hybrid with disc brakes typically you are thinking of strong bike with good stopping power and smooth ride. Hybrids are built to ride on and off road and if you are purchasing one with disc brakes you definitely want to know that it will take on rugged paths with ease. All three of the hybrids I reviewed above have great disc brakes that give it stopping power and can take on rougher terrains. I am a sucker for red though1 I love the Schwinn GTX 2.0. It was designed with durability and leisure riding planned into it. It also is a great bike for those hiking trails! You can never go wrong with a Schwinn! However, all three of these bikes have great qualities that I am sure you will love, but don’t take my word for it. Check them out for yourself. Happy riding!
